CARRIER EXPERIENCES

Documented accounts from motor carriers that have conducted business with 917Smith. This section is intended to preserve carrier accounts, supporting records and the context surrounding commercial disputes.

Why Carrier Experiences Matter

FreightGuard and similar broker-only reporting systems can present one side of a dispute to other brokers. This page provides a place for carriers to document what happened from their perspective and support their account with records.

Carrier submissions may involve payment disputes, deductions, Carrier411 reports, bond claims, communication with customers, contractual disagreements, detention, claims or other issues arising from freight transactions.

Maxx Trans

Broker: 917Smith | Freight Transaction Dispute
Carrier Account

917Smith brokered a load to Maxx Trans for approximately $600, moving freight from Sunbelt Rentals in Cookeville, Tennessee, to Nokesville, Virginia.

After delivery, a dispute developed concerning payment. Maxx Trans maintains that 917Smith attempted to reduce the agreed freight charges and ultimately did not pay the amount Maxx believed was owed.

Maxx Trans subsequently filed a claim against 917Smith's broker bond and was paid through that process.

Carrier411 / FreightGuard Issue

Following the dispute, 917Smith filed two FreightGuard reports concerning Maxx Trans arising from the same underlying transaction.

Maxx Trans disputes the accuracy and characterization of those reports and maintains that the communications and actions cited by 917Smith must be viewed in the context of the payment dispute.

Carrier Position
Maxx Trans maintains that contacting a customer concerning an unpaid freight bill should not automatically be characterized as soliciting that customer for future freight.

Maxx further maintains that the complete record — including the rate confirmation, payment history, communications and bond claim — should be reviewed before conclusions are drawn from the FreightGuard reports.
